Peer Mentoring Inspire Me Mentoring Project
Research has found that peer mentoring can positively affect academic achievement as evidenced by improvements in test scores and exam results. In addition improvements have been documented in emotional well being including both mentors and mentees increased self- esteem and confidence
The programme is a creative way to evidence the impact that Pupil Premium Funding can have for some of our young people living in worklessness households. Breaking down barriers on mental health issues to allow access to education, training and employment has Government backing being recognised as innovative and forward thinking.
The programme is designed to deliver a range of outcomes specific to the needs of the young people and school, e.g. behaviour management strategies, motivation, social and emotional well being and academic achievement.
Inspire me is an award winning peer mentoring service that is specifically aimed to help those young people who are vulnerable to becoming NEET, where peer mentoring has been considered an appropriate support pathway in order to help them engage in education .
Year 12 and 13 students will be matched to and mentor Year 10 & 11 pupils for six to eight months in the run up to GCSE exams, providing essential 1-1 support and encouraging them to engage in education and reach their full potential.
Inspire Me along with Mentor Me and Independent Me where recently awarded the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation Approved Provider Status Award quoting that it was a 'innovative and outstanding project'.
