Non attendance at school, for any reason, is an important issue that must be treated seriously. Regular school attendance is the foundation of achievement for individual pupils and school communities alike.
The attendance team supports schools in their endeavours to raise attendance rates by working with pupils families and other key agencies. The team specialises in working with schools to develop effective systems, procedures and interventions and work in partnership with organisations to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
Each school will be allocated a named attendance officer who will visit the school on a half termly basis in order to discuss individual pupils, collect referrals and agree on a course of action with suggested timescales.

Radiation Protection Service
The service aims to provide academies with the means of discharging their duties under the the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 (IRR99), made under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, which came into force on 1 January 2001. They require an employer to ensure that radioactive substances are accounted for, stored properly, handled safely and monitored regularly. The employer must provide employees with appropriate information and instruction in radiation protection to ensure their health and safety. An academy is the radiation employer. The academy can subscribe to Radiation Protection services through the local authority’s membership of the Radiation Protection Advice Service provided by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
