Moving & Handling (People)

Outline

This course has been developed for all new care staff who have not received training in the last 12 months. The purpose of the course is to ensure that attendees have the knowledge and skills to safely and competently move and handle people in their care. This course meets the requirement of the Care Certificate and the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF)

Description

  • To be able to list all legislation that is applicable when moving and handling people including H&S and a person centred guidance
  • To be able to identify low, medium and high risk service users
  • To recognise controversial techniques
  • To be introduced to Single-handed Care practices and equipment
  • To demonstrate good spinal awareness within the principles of moving and handling
  • To practise the use of safe techniques and equipment

Booking Information

This is a practical session and you must be physically able to participate and wear sensible clothing and footwear. You must ensure that this training is updated every 12 months through attending the refresher course

Audience

Direct care staff who have not received training within the last 12 months.
