This course has been developed for all staff working within a Health and Social care setting who may come into with those experiencing dementia. The purpose of the course is to provide an introduction to dementia in care. The course will explore what the condition is and how this can impact individuals, it will also discuss current techniques for supporting those with dementia.
Objectives for the session include:
- To identify the common types of dementia
- To discuss the experiences of a person who is living with dementia
- To investigate how to interpret and respond to behaviour changes as a result of the condition advancing
- To analyse the barriers to communication that occur as a result of the condition
